Music for the Tsar

Musica Petropolitana

Baroque instrumental music of the 18th century Russian Imperial Court, performed on period instruments by the award-winning Musica Petropolitana chamber ensemble from St.Petersburg. Previously unrecorded works by Nicola Antonio Porpora (1686-1768), Giuseppe Sarti (1729-1802), Vincenzo Manfredini (1737-1799), Giovanni Paisiello (1740-1816) and Johan Joachim Agrell (1701-1765).

"Fine performances with an authentic period sound . . .  completely new to me but well worth hearing."
